When Drake was dragged out on stage during the Apple Music Launch (along with an invitation for his protégé the Weeknd to cap off the event with a performance of a new single), it was a sign that the streaming service wanted to be closely aligned with the rapper. The connection was revealed only a few weeks later, when the self-described “6 God” appeared on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio Show and announced his own forthcoming radio show on the service, “OVO Sound”. He also used the appearance as an opportunity to premiere a new track from an act on his OVO label - Majid Jordan’s “My Love”. The latter R&B duo first burst on the scene as a featured artist on Drizzy’s chart-topping single “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and here the roles are reversed – on the electro-leaning, despondent new track, singer Majid Al Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman take center stage and let their boss handle a couple verses, while all parties vent about women that have led them on and failed relationships. In just a matter of days, the track was streamed over 1 million times on Soundcloud.
While it hasn’t been formally announced, odds are good that Majid Jordan will make an appearance at 2015’s OVO Fest in Toronto on Aug 1-3, and bust out this new tune.
